Thanksgiving Fire
Soon after coming home from Thanksgiving dinner, we started to hear a slew of fire sirens heading our way. Taking one look out the window showed what was up. Just past the corner on 4th Avenue at Prospect Avenue there was a huge fire engulfing the small buildings and soaring to over twice their height. From the terrible smell of the smoke my guess was the car servicing center full of tires was going up.
It seemed destine to spread to neighboring buildings and grow larger, but amazingly the firefighters quickly got it under control. Under an hour later it was just steam rising into the sky.
I should remember that firefighters really do kick ass.
(Update: Gothamist ran a story with my photos. Nice! I should remember that I might have a future as a news photographer.)

Hi Patrick-
My name is Tom Jozefiak and I work in L-131 on Lorraine St. in Red Hook. Our company was the first truck to arrive at the scene of the fire that you photographed that night. I also happened to be working that particular night. I was wondering if I would be able to get copies of the pictures that you took. Those were some great shots and I would love to enlarge them and frame them for our firehouse. Please let me know if you are willing to share work. I would pick up the costs, of course. Thank-you,
Tom
