Children of Men

Clive Owen in Children of Men OK, I saw Children of Men last week, but had been meaning to post about it because it reminded me that new science fiction movies don’t have to be terrible. I mean this movie was excellent. I loved it. The moodiness, Clive Owen’s character, the fact that Julianne Moore doesn’t mess it up, Michael Caine’s brilliant character and especially the last both visually and audibly amazing sequence that openly assaults your senses forcing you to the edge of your seat. It was fantastic.

Ok, enough good stuff. I hated the scene which paraded around the exact (I mean exact) Abu Grahib imagery we’ve all seen to bludgeon home the point that there were clear similarities between the police state in the film and what’s going on today. Everyone watching the movie had figured that out. It was completely unnecessary and disrupted the mood of the storyline. Just my 2 cents.

Anyway, I should remember to continue having faith in Clive Owen and give new science fiction a chance.
