Wall-E Wins Oscar

wall-eoscar

I could barely care less about the Oscars last night. In fact, I had forgotten that they were even on until some friends over reminded us.

So, we fired up the rabbit ears and checked out Hugh Jackman’s opening number, which was fun (especially the part about not seeing The Reader). Then the awards got under way and I realized that there was only one award that mattered to me: whether they would award a movie with almost no speaking as the animated film of the year. The woman and I had a brief debate about this category being the “animated film of the year” not the “kid’s film of the year”. Then, thankfully, the Academy awarded the Oscar to Wall-E.

I should remember that there are still some places where people are brave enough to get behind unconventional projects.

“The Race for the Hardcore”

dsc_4832-version-2

Whether for genuine encouragement or simply to torture me, my woman signed me up last month for the Cherry Tree 10 Mile – Race for the Hardcore which I took part in this morning. Being only my second race since starting to run last Summer and since it was twice as long as my previous race, I was very nervous going into today. I genuinly was afriad I wouldn’t finish. Thankfully, I did and with a decent time at that—approximately 1:27.

Unfortunately, my uncalibrated Nike+ didn’t return the correct distance. Oh well…

I should remember to keep running as it makes me feel fantastic.

Update: Looks like someone caught me in their shot, but still no official times posted…

Leopard Desktop Wallpaper

leopard I finally got around to adding one of my favorite shots from my Africa trip to MyBestDesktops.com as a high-res desktop wallpaper. Coincidentally, for Mac OS X users, it’s what I think is a beautiful shot of a female leopard. So, now whether you’re running Leopard or Vista or XP or Linux or whatever… you can have a leopard on your desktop.

I should remember to upload more desktops.

God of War III

It’s that time again. Time to really begin anxiously awaiting the next installment in one of the biggest, baddest video game franchises ever: God of War.

The original God of War was so mind-blowingly aggressive, so ridiculously brutal, you thought it might kick the shit out of you should you decide to put it down and return to playing Katamari Damacy or some other less viciously bad-ass game… of which there were none. So, naturally, you had to play it through… twice. Then sit there praying to Zeus for a chance to once again be blessed with the opportunity to take control of Kratos and rip the eyes out of the sockets of every cyclops with the misfortune of finding itself in your presence.

Anyway, now we find ourselves with a new trailer, a video interview, and a big Game Informer article to tide us over until E3 when more will be revealed about God of War III.

Yeah, I wasn’t 100% blown away by God of War II and Chains of Olympus left a little (I mean just a little) to be desired, but I’ll definitely remember that few things in life are better than handing out one of Kratos’ signature brutal beatdowns.

Bought a New Fridge

New Maytag So, the fridge crapped out a week ago. This meant putting the food in the freezer on the roof and giving away some stuff to neighbors… plus a trip to PC Richards for a new one.

Of course, I had never bought a fridge before, so that was interesting. It felt like a very adult activity…

I’m not sure what I should remember about this… except that it’s better to have a fridge die during the winter…

Write More

So, it seems like I don’t update this very often. Which doesn’t bother me because I don’t imagine some random reader somewhere waiting patiently for my missives. Rather, it bothers me because I’m supposed to be trying to remember stuff and I don’t even remember to write it down…

I gotta remember to write more!
