Safe Haven Irish Music Session

Every Wednesday a group of talented traditional Irish musicians gather at a small bar in South Park Slope. I’ve always had some strange attachment to Ireland. It may just be due to my name and its ties to the country, but nevertheless Ireland has always interested me.

Anyway, when I was asked to photograph a session at Safe Haven, I jumped at the chance just for the fun of it. Thankfully the photos came out well in my opinion. It may be due to the Irish whiskey Noel kept pouring me throughout the night… or maybe just the fantastic vibe that evening.

I should remember to swing back by Safe Haven one of these Wednesdays.

New Site Launches for Composer H. Scott Salinas

After way too long, I managed to complete a new site for composer, and my friend, H. Scott Salinas. It’s a dark, somewhat moody affair with some interesting design elements. Check it out now at hscottsalinas.com.

I should remember to occasionally exercise my build skills if only to keep up with the latest methods…

4th of July in Pawling

Last weekend the woman and I took the Triumph for its first real ride up to Pawling to celebrate our countries independence in the woods. Riding 70-80mph up the Taconic through green woods, over reservoirs, and around tightly packed rolling hills was heaven. Oh and the time up in Pawling was great, too. (Chopping down trees, building bonfires and generally cultivating rough manly hands.)

I need to remember to both visit my friend in Pawling more often and just plain get out there and ride away from the city more often.

This one seems a little different from the others as it sports strokes with more of a certain drunken insanity, but oh well… I really need to remember to keep trying to paint more often.

A Connecticut Wedding

So, I had the pleasure of being invited to my friend Jay and his new wife Sacha’s wedding up in Connecticut last weekend.

It was a truly amazing event including more than 300 people, a Russian Orthodox ceremony complete with levetating crowns and walking in circles, something like a 10 piece funk band that was excellent at whipping the guests up into a dancing frenzy, exceptional food including oysters and filet minon, unbelievable surroundings in the woods of Connecticut, and, much to my enjoyment, bottomless Veuve Clicquot.

I should remember their anniversary is September 3rd.
